stART ~ Love Bugs

Welcome to stART!  I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures somewhere in your post by either adding my button or a text link, so that others can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week.  Be sure to stop by and visit the different links…every week there are so many different and fun book and craft ideas!

Check out the  stART tab in my navigation bar where you can find our past stART projects.  All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.  I have also included a list of all the blogs that participate in stART.

This week Emily read Love Bugs, by David Carter at school.  We have enjoyed some of his other pop-up books together and this one was just as cute.  The intricate pop-up pages really captivate the girls’ attention and the rhyming text is fun to read.  Although it is only 5 pages long it is a fun book to enjoy together for Valentines Day.

Emily made this cute “Love Bug” to go along with the story.

IMG_1874To make the love bug she colored in the face and used a heart shaped rubber stamp to make spots on the body.   Then she glued the pieces together.  The body is a large heart made out of construction paper.  The legs and antennas are black construction paper strips and they used heart punches on the cheeks, feet and antenna.  Her favorite part was putting spots on the love bug with the heart shaped rubber stamps!

imageA few years ago we also made these cute Love Bug Valentines to give out to her friends.   I thought of it as soon as I saw this book :0)

Awwww, love bugs are so cute.

The linky isn't open, it says subscription expired.

I am working on updating the linky, it will hopefully be up by the end of the day. The wording on the subscription expiration date was misleading, I thought it was through today, but it stopped today.

That ladybug with the message inside is too cute! I love the heart spots. I've had a hard time finding good Valentine's stories this year so I'm going to write down the story. It sounds so fun!
