stART ~ A Piece of Chalk

Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too. All I ask is that you link back to A Mommy’s Adventures so that everyone can see all the other great projects that everyone shares too! The linky will be open all week.

I added a stART tab in my navigation bar to make it easier to search for past stART projects. Be sure to check it out!! All the books that we have read and did a stART project for are listed in alphabetical order.

image This week Emily, Juliette and I enjoyed reading A Piece of Chalk, by Jennifer A Ericsson.  This is a cute story about a little girl who draws a very colorful chalk drawing on her driveway.  When she finishes it the rain turns it into swirl of colors just like the rainbow that the rain shower left behind.  I thought that this was a great book for talking about colors.  After reading this book Emily was ready to draw on our sidewalk with her chalk!!

Daddy was home so he came out with us to join in the fun.

Emily’s Chalk Drawing.

She was determined to use the whole stick of pink chalk, which she did end up doing!

We dont "do" much side walk painting in the UK, we really should though, as it is so much fun and you can start over and over again... maybe I will let Red Ted do a bit in the garden!

Michelle, just to let you know, with my brand new blog and URL I have launched "Kids Get Crafty", also a weekly Link Up Party for anything kids craft related! I hope that is ok with you, as we will overlap, but thought "more publicity" for everyone is "good publicity". You can see it here: http://www.redtedart.com/?p=3056

Thanks for your fab link up as always!

We read this book last summer and had some fun with it too. I love that Emily insisted on using the entire piece of pink chalk. My daughter would do that too, but it would be so that her brother couldn't use the pink chalk!!!

So much fun. I will have to look for that book, maybe for next spring. We love our sidewalk chalk.

You always find the best books, I am going to see if our library has that! My daughter already loves sidewalk chalk.

And how to deal with the disappointment of the rain washing away your art.

Sounds like a cute book.
We actually painted one side of our shed with chalk board paint and my kids love drawing on it but every now and then they draw on the sidewalks too.

Your post reminds me to get outside with my children and our stash of chalk. What fun.
