Open Ended Art ~ Mosaics with Beans

Emily's Bean Mosaic Leaf
This month's Open Ended Art theme is Mosaics. This weeks material is paper so Emily and I made a special trip to the store for a bag of beans. I was excited to find a mixed bag of beans so that she would have a nice variety of sizes and colors. After sorting the beans the colors reminded me of fall so I cut a leaf shape out of cardboard for Emily to do her mosaic on.

Emily sorting the beans into our 12 cup muffin tin. Mommy and Grandma helped with this part because there were a lot of beans to sort.

Emily worked really hard, carefully placing her beans onto the leaf.

Getting more beans to create with.

I love it! It must have taken a bit of time to sort all of those beans :)

This leaf turned out gorgeous. I am impressed that Emily persisted on it, this definitely wouldn't have happened here :)

I love, love, love how you have her sort things first! I also like your Fall themed leaf idea. She did an awesome job--what patience she must have!

That looks great. I made a mosaic bean butterfly for the letter B with my son last year. Next time I will have him sort the beans first. That is a good idea.
