Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our story and art project and maybe even share your own too! The linky will be open all week.
This week we read Warthogs Paint A Messy Color Book, by Pamela Duncan Edwards. This is a really cute story about some very messy warthogs and the fun that they have with Red, Blue and Yellow paint one rainy day. I love the great color concepts that this book teaches and all the wonderful art projects that is lend itself too!
This week we decided to use some of the color mixing concepts that are talked about in this book to make a very special Cheesecake rainbow.
First we made the crust and added some Fruit Loops to the graham crackers for a rainbow colored crust and fun fruity flavor.
Emily helped scoop and pour all of the ingredients into the mixer.
While it was mixing Emily worked on pointing out some of her letters. She knew all of the letters in Kitchen Aid!
Once the batter was ready I divided it into three bowls and added Red, Blue and Yellow food coloring to them.
Emily helped mix the food coloring into the batter.
Next, we mixed the different colors together to make Orange, Green, and Purple. (I added a little bit of food coloring as needed to get a brighter color)
Emily really enjoyed all the mixing :0)
Now we are ready to make our rainbow!
Emily helped pour the Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple batter on top of the graham cracker crust.
After waiting a whole day to cut into the cake and see how it came out Emily and everyone else that was over for our Family Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner loved the results!!
Warthogs Paint inspired Rainbow Cheesecake!
If you would like to make your own check out the awesome cheesecake recipe we used. I made a different crust since my husband is allergic to tree nuts.
