Paper Plate Turkey Wreath

IMG_6009

I had the girls make these Paper Plate Turkey Wreaths during art group last week.  I cut out the center of a paper plate to make the base for the paper loops to go on.  Then I cut out a bunch of strips of paper (mine were 1x6 inches)  I taped them into loops and had them all ready for the girls to glue them on to the wreath.  I am sure an older child would be able to do this part themselves.

Emily glued the paper loops onto the paper plate

Next she folded two thin strips like an accordion.  These will be used for the legs

I cut out feet shapes for Emily to glue onto the legs

Then she glued  beak,  snood and legs to the body.  I traced Emily’s food onto a piece of brown construction paper for the body.

I gave the girls the choice of gluing on wiggly eyes or using a marker.  Emily chose the marker :0)

Finally she glued the body to the loops on the plate.

Picinic Table Talk ~ Organization

Our Art Cart

To keep all of our art supplies organized I use the 20 drawer cart that used to be the mailbox system for my 4th grade classroom. When I stopped teaching after I had Emily it hung out in the basement waiting to be used again. After my husband finished our laundry room/office I finally had a place to put it and all our art supplies.

In our art cart I have similar arts and crafts items in each drawer.

  • paint and paint brushes
  • pom poms, pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks, straws
  • adhesives - glue, tape, staples, Velcro
  • play-doh
  • play-doh accessories
  • collage materials
  • construction paper
  • stickers
  • markers

My goal is to add a picture of what is inside the drawer and a label with the description of what is in each drawer.

Emily knows the sticker, paper and play-doh drawers and gets the supplies she needs when she wants to do those activities.

Our Scrap Box

Monkey Paper Scrap Box

For Emily's Birthday she got a gift in this cute Monkey Box. It was not reusable as a gift box after it was opened so now it is our paper scrap box. Emily enjoys feeding the monkey paper scraps when we are finished with a project.
