Balloon Pit Sight Word Hunt

Juliette is so excited about learning how to read.  She is recognizing many different sight words so now I am looking for fun ways for her to practice them.  Balloon Pit Sight Word Hunt

We had a bunch of balloons leftover from Emily’s Lego Friends Birthday Party which I gathered into the corner to keep them away from Clara and that is when this idea came to me!  Since Juliette is an active child I knew she would love this fun way to hunt for her words.  I took 5 balloons and wrote one of the sight words we have been working with on each balloon.  Then I told her what word to find.  She loved pushing around all the balloons looking for the ones that had words on it, and she was even more excited when she found the word she was looking for!!  We will definitely be playing this gave many more times since it was a big hit.

Be sure to check out my Sight Word Board on Pinterest

What fun ways have you used to practice sight words with your children?

If you have a post about sight words be sure to add it to the linky then check out the other great activities that have been linked up.   I can’t wait to check it out!!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Cousins

IMG_1869IMG_1870

The girls love having their little cousin over.  He is getting so big and really enjoys interacting with them now.  Here they were showing him the 2 person parachute.  They all had so much fun with it, plus it was a great gross motor skills workout for the girls!

Quick and Easy Balance Beam

While we were outside washing the car Emily and Juliette decided that the cobblestone on the side of the driveway would be the perfect balance beam!

They both kept walking up and down the driveway balancing on the stone.  It reminded me of walking on the edge of the curb when in the same way when I was little.

Spontaneous gross motor skill workouts that are full of giggles and grins are always a fun way to spend a cool summer evening!

Toddler Recycled Containers Game

I have been saving cylinder shaped containers with lids for a while now.  I have used them with Emily to do some roll and painting projects, but when I was cleaning out a cabinet Juliette came across them and made up her own game with them!

She collected them…

She was so entertained with finding them and setting them up, until she was distracted by the camera.

Wordless Wednesday ~ Bouncy House Races

IMG_4780

We recently celebrated my nephews 6th birthday at Pump It Up an indoor inflatable fun zone!  Emily had fun racing her cousin through the Bouncy Obstacle Course and of course bouncing, climbing and sliding the time away.
