This is the way Juliette...

...Rides Her Bike!

Juliette loves when we bicycle her legs. One day I started to sing this song to her and she started smiling and cooing. Now it is a fun game we all enjoy playing with her. Emily likes to help out by picking who's house Juliette is going to ride her bicycle too :0)

This is the Way We Ride Our Bike
(to the tune of: Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush)

This is the way we ride or bike,
ride our bike, ride our bike.
This is the way we ride our bike,
to Grandma's* house we go!

*We replace Grandma's house with the names of different friends and family members.

Since I couldn't take a picture and bicycle Juliette's legs at the same time Emily helped out for this one!

Muffin Tin Monday

The Teddy Bears' Picnic Muffin Tin Monday

This weeks Muffin Tin Monday theme was Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs/Children's Literature. I LOVE the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, however when I sat down to read it with Emily she lost interest in it very quickly. We will have to try it again a little later :0) So, I decided to try another book to go with the new Teddy Bear muffin tin I found at my mom's house. We sat down on our Picnic Blanket on the kitchen floor and read The Teddy Bears' Picnic, illustrated by Renate Kozikowski. After we read the book, Emily was very excited to have a Teddy Bear Picnic Muffin Tin Monday Lunch!

(Today we shared a Muffin Tin Lunch since the bears were rather large!)

After we finished lunch I found this video for Emily to watch. She enjoyed listening to the Teddy Bears' Picnic song!

TOTSchool

Tot School

Our week in TOTSchool!
Emily is 31 months old.

We jarred tomato sauce for the year with Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Danny.
Mommy, Emily and Daddy washing our tomatoes.
Emily watching Daddy and Uncle Danny poking the cooked tomatoes.

This week we worked on the letter "Aa"
Emily painted the letter Aa with green, yellow and red paint for the colors of apples. When she was finished I helped her trace over each letter in the paint.

When her Aa painting was dry we used it to help us find the magnetic letter Aa's. When Emily found them she put them on the magnetic board on top of her painting.

Emily practiced sorting beans as part of our Open-Ended art project. Go here to check out the finished product! I bought a bag of bean soup that had 14 varieties of beans. My mom and I help Emily with this because there were a lot of beans! She did a great job though.
We read 10 apples and made Emily with 10 apples up on top for our stART project this week. Go here to find out more about the weekly stART project I host here at A Mommy's Adventures.

Grandma watched Juliette while I took Emily to a music program at the library. When we got home Emily and my mom worked on a Noah's Ark sticker book, while Juliette watched.

Having fun with Juliette in the bouncer.

We went Apple Picking with our cousin Genevieve, Chris and Logan. Emily was so excited to visit Logan. She was so good in the car the whole 3 hour ride there and 3 1/2 hour ride home on the same day! I was so excited that Juliette was perfect the whole time too.

Our family

Emily loves to sing along with the songs we listen to in the car. Here she is singing Growing Up For Jesus to Juliette (and the camera).

Simply Made Sunday ~ Apple Fritters

Photobucket

This week we made Apple Fritters. They were much easier than I thought they would be the worst part is frying them, but what a delicious treat! Emily enjoyed helping me mix all of the ingredients together and watching me fry them.

Emily adding the apples into the fritter batter.

Emily shaking cinnamon/sugar over the warm apple fritters...yummy!!

Apple Fritters

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk (I used coconut milk because Juliette has a milk protein intolerance)
  • 1 Tablespoon oil ( I use canola)
  • 1 cup diced apples (I would use a little more next time)
  1. In a bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
  2. In another bowl combine eggs, milk and oil. Make a well in dry mixture and add egg mixture.
  3. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls into hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides about 2 minutes.
  4. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar.

Kids in the Kitchen ~ Mini Carmel Apples

We made some Mini Carmel Apples this week for our apple themed Muffin Tin Monday. They were really easy to make and Emily really enjoyed being able to make something all by herself (for the most part). These are great for kids because they are much easier to eat too!

I used my Melon Baller to make little apple balls. I got 6 balls from 1 small apple.

I poked a toothpick into each ball and let Emily dip it into Carmel sauce...

...and then some sprinkles!

stART ~ Ten Apples Up On Top

A Story + Art = A Great stART!

Welcome to stART! I hope that you will enjoy our book and art project and maybe even share your own too! For an explanation of stART click here.

We read Ten Apples Up On Top!, by Dr. Seuss. This is a funny story about three friends that balance apples on their heads and will do anything to keep them there! This is one of Emily's favorite books at the moment. I thought it would be fun to make a picture of Emily with ten apples up on top.

Emily painted the backround of her picture with watercolors.
Emily glued a picture of herself onto the painting.

Emily added circle "apple" stickers on top of a picture of herself. Ten Apples on Top of Emily!

Open Ended Art ~ Mosaics with Beans

Emily's Bean Mosaic Leaf
This month's Open Ended Art theme is Mosaics. This weeks material is paper so Emily and I made a special trip to the store for a bag of beans. I was excited to find a mixed bag of beans so that she would have a nice variety of sizes and colors. After sorting the beans the colors reminded me of fall so I cut a leaf shape out of cardboard for Emily to do her mosaic on.

Emily sorting the beans into our 12 cup muffin tin. Mommy and Grandma helped with this part because there were a lot of beans to sort.

Emily worked really hard, carefully placing her beans onto the leaf.

Getting more beans to create with.
