Emily's Traffic Light
We were reading Little People Cars, Trucks, Planes, and Trains and You Can Drive an Automobile (Golden Drive Away Book), by Carolyn Bracken this morning and I decided this would be a fun project to go along with them. I cut out 3 sections of an egg carton and gave Emily red, yellow and green paint. We talked about where the colors where on a traffic light and what they meant before she painted each section.
Painting Green for Go!
Yellow, for Get ready to stop.
Red, for Stop!
When Emily was all finished painting I made a slit in the bottom of the egg carton and another slit in the bottom of a small plastic cup. Then I slid a Popsicle stick in each slit and secured it with some tape in the egg carton.
Later on today we will be going outside to play Red Light, Green Light. Emily loves running around when I say green light and freezing in place when I say red light.
**This is our version of the game since we only have 1 player, for now :0)
